A new Fishy tail

Hi All Fishers

Recently I was Fishing in the Osage River, drift fishing. Rounding a bend in the river I saw a tree hanging over the water, with a stump sticking up just above the water. As I slowly drifted along, I saw a squirrel scamper down the tree, jump onto the stump and snatch a pecan from the stump.

Suddenly this Huge Bass jumps from the water. The Bass snatches the squirrel from that stump so fast the squirrel doesn't even have a chance. As I sit there in my boat marveling at what happened, shaking my head, as I see movement by the stump again.

Smart Bass, he put another pecan on that stump. ;-)

Another oldie but goodie there folks, I just heard this one again recently, and thought I'd share it with you.

A Fishy Tale

      Hope all is well, just a short note tonight to Thank all of You who read my fishing stories,and I'll share with you a fishing joke that I heard many years ago.
    Lil' Johnny came back to school after summer vacation, one of his friends asked him about what exciting things he had done over the summer.
Johnny said,"Me and my Daddy went fishing, and we caught 20 bass that weighed 20 lbs each." Well of course his friend didn't believe him, and soon the Teacher walked up to Johnny and asked him about his story. Johnny told her,"Me and my Daddy went fishing and we caught 20 bass that weighed 20 lbs each", and the Teacher said, "Johnny you go to the Principals office." So he did. Johnny sat down in front of the Principals desk, and the man asked," Lil' Johnny what's this I hear about you telling lies in school." Johnny replied," Oh no, Mr Principal it's true it's really true, me and my Daddy went fishing , we caught 20 bass that weighed 20 lbs each." The Principal shakes his head, and says," OK Johnny I got one for you," The other day I was driving home after school, when this big black bear ran out in front of me, I slammed on the brakes, stopped and then along comes this little bitty white dog, this dog jumps onto that bear & starts chewing into that bear. Johnny that little bitty dog killed that big black bear. Now Johnny do you believe that story." Lil' Johnny crosses his arms, sits up straight and says," Well yeah it was MY dog"

Passion Ignited - My First Big Fish

Hi Fishing Friends

I thought that I'd tell you a story about a little carrot top boy who began his love of fishing.

When I was about 4 yrs old my family & I went fishing in this pond near our home, it was really an old clay pit , but I didn't care, I just knew we were going fishing, oh boy was I excited,couldn't wait to get there.

"Are we there yet" I asked, Mom told me "almost son, settle down now". We get to the old fishing hole, Zoom, there I go, "I'm ready to fish" I told my Dad, as he was getting the gear from our car.

Finally everyone is set-up, poles in hand, lines in the water, bobbers set to depth, I wait for a bite, & wait, ya all know 4yr olds, ain't built to wait. So I prop my pole up on a  Y shaped stick & start playing with the baby frogs hopping around.

Of course I'm not paying my bobber any attention, lots of frogs to chase, Mom hollers "Jon you got a bite", I run to my pole, grab it up, yank back, and start cranking the reel.

The line is not coming in, I can't see my bobber. So... I clamp my hand tight on my rod, turn tail, & run up the bank.

First thing I thought of & you know what, it worked, cause soon that great BIG fish was flopping on the bank.

Mom hollers out "Jon you can stop now" I turned around, saw that fish & couldn't believe my eyes, it looked like a Whale.

Really folks it was a large mouth bass, near to 5lbs according to my family. I don't recall that part, I just remember it was a BIG fish.

And that is when my love for fishing began, in an old pond.
